  • IUPD Bloomington: Full service law enforcement agency which serves the needs of the Indiana University campuses.
  • Stop Sexual Violence: IU is dedicated to fighting sexual misconduct, including sexual violence. Find help, make a report, and learn more about prevention, safety, and support.
  • Sexual Assault Crisis Service: Provides crisis consultation, individual and group counseling, and assistance with referrals for medical care to anyone who has experienced an assault.
  • Student Advocates Office: Assists students with university-related problems such as: withdraw from all classes; academic, personal, or sexual misconduct; resolve an academic absence, conflict, or appeal; request emergency funding; remove a financial hold or submit an appeal.
  • IU Safety Escort: Free safe rides for IU students and faculty from 8 PM to 1:45 AM, 7 days a week.

OFF CAMPUS

  • Middle Way House: Provides supportive and empowering services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking. Offers emergency shelter, transitional housing, a 24/7 help and crisis line, legal advocacy, and support groups.
  • New Hope Family Shelter: Provides temporary shelter for homeless families in Bloomington and Monroe County and helps those families regain housing by addressing the problems that lead to homelessness. Main shelter provides accommodation for up to seven families for up to 90 days.

  • Student Care and Resource Center: Supports IU students experiencing challenges that impact their ability to be safe, healthy, and successful. Offers help with academic, administrative, personal, health, wellness, behavioral, or bias issues.

ON CAMPUS

  • TimelyCare: Offers IU students free access to virtual mental health services, 24/7. Provides on-demand mental health and emotional support, appointment-based mental health counseling, health coaching, peer support, and digital self-care content.
  • Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS): Individual, group, and couples therapy about topics such as academic concerns, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, stress, and substance abuse.
  • Counseling and Wellness Clinic: Confidential counseling available for individuals, couples, and families at reduced costs. First appointment is free.
  • Substance Use Intervention Services (SUIS): Provides campus-wide alcohol and drug prevention, counseling services, education, and intervention.

OFF CAMPUS

  • Psychology Today: One of the largest online directories of local therapists, psychiatrists, support groups, treatment centers, and teletherapy options.
  • Centerstone Bloomington: Not-for-profit mental health care provider offering services related to emotional and behavioral counseling, psychological care, psychiatry, and addiction treatment.
  • Catholic Charities: Provides mental health education and counseling on a sliding fee scale; also offers shelter for women and children who are facing or experiencing homelessness.
  • Mental Health America of Monroe County: A nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting mental health and supporting mental health consumers and their families through education, referral, and service.

ON CAMPUS

  • IU Health Center: A full-service clinic for IU Bloomington students. Services include medical care, psychological counseling, a travel clinic, a pharmacy, a women’s clinic, and on-site lab services. 

OFF CAMPUS

  • Futures Family Planning Clinic: Provides family planning health services for adolescents, men, and women. Affordable services are available on a sliding fee schedule.
  • Planned Parenthood: Offers healthcare and sexual testing, screening, and preventative medicine for adolescents, men, and women.
  • Monroe County Public Health Clinic: Offers flu shots and immunizations by appointment, TB skin testing, pregnancy testing, and the following screenings: Community Well Screenings (blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar screenings), lead screenings, head lice checks, and anemia screenings.
  • Monroe County Child and Family Services: Provides child and family welfare services required by the community, including a range of voluntary and involuntary, preventive, protective, supportive, and rehabilitative services for adults, children, and families to maintain and enhance their quality of life.
  • HealthNet (formerly Volunteers in Medicine): Provides the following services without cost to the medically underserved: easily accessible, quality primary and preventative healthcare, and treatment for both acute and chronic conditions.
  • IU Health Positive Link: Confidential and anonymous HIV testing with support services.
  • The Hannah Center: A Bloomington nonprofit serving women, men, families, grandparents, and babies, who come seeking help in making decisions about their pregnancies, assistance with material needs, and related concerns.

  • Chances and Services for Youth: Assistance with childcare for Bloomington residents and families.
  • Monroe County United Ministries: Offers low income families and individuals with high-quality childcare for preschool children (ages 2-6) all year and school age children (ages 6-10) in summer. They also offer emergency food, gently worn and new clothing, as well as financial counseling to low income families.

ON CAMPUS

  • Student Emergency Fund: Provides financial assistance to SoE students who are experiencing an emergency related to an unexpected financial difficulty that is impacting the ability to remain enrolled at IUB.
  • Crimson Cupboard Food Pantry: Offers free food to IU Bloomington students who cannot otherwise afford it.
  • LGBTQ+ Alumni Association Emergency Scholarship: An emergency fund to assist students who have faced the loss of financial support when they make the courageous decision to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity to their families.

OFF CAMPUS

  • Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard: Programs include a client-choice food pantry and free educational programs on nutrition and gardening.
  • Community Kitchen of Monroe County: Serves sit-down dinners from 4 to 6 PM Monday – Saturday all year; the kitchen also provides both warm and cold carryout meals during these times.
  • Shalom Community Center: Serves breakfast and lunch, Monday – Friday; daytime resource center.
  • Bloomington Township Trustee’s Office: The trustee’s office provides emergency assistance to those in need. There is a food pantry, family shelter, transportation help, and assistance in paying for utilities, medical expenses, and funeral costs.
  • Monroe County Indiana Assistance Program: The South Central Community Action Program can provide cash grants and financial assistance; also can provide information on other Indiana and Federal Government Assistance Programs.
  • Connect Help 211: Service that helps connect individuals to resources for help with: food and clothing, mental health and addiction, health care, housing and utility assistance, education and employment, children and family, and holiday services.

  • Asian Culture Center: Promotes awareness and understanding of Asian and Asian American cultures, histories, and issues through institutional resources, educational support, and community outreach.
  • First Nations Educational and Cultural Center: Supports the retention and recruitment of American Indian, Alaskan Native, and Native Hawaiian students, faculty, and staff.
  • Jewish Culture Center: Ensures Jewish college students have opportunities to recognize and develop their leadership potential and connect with Judaism in many traditional and creative ways.
  • LGBTQ+ Culture Center: Serves as a resources and information center for the IU LGBTQ+ community and people who want to better understand LGBTQ+ issues and concerns.
  • La Casa Latino Cultural Center: Promotes academic excellence, personal and professional growth, and greater historical, political, and cultural awareness of the Latino community through educational and social programs.
  • Neal-Marshal Black Culture Center: Connects IU to Black culture, promotes public awareness of the Black experience, and celebrates students’ academic and leadership achievements.

ON CAMPUS

  • Student Legal Services: Free legal advice and representation for IU students in civil cases such as landlord/tenant issues, immigration cases, criminal law, and family circumstances.
  • Center for Students in Transition: Assists undergraduate students with circumstances that fall outside of or in between services typically provided by other University offices.
  • Veteran and Military Services: Supports IU Bloomington students from all branches of the U.S. military from their first day on campus until graduation.
  • Office of International Services: Helps international students while applying to IU, and with admissions standards, supporting documents, visas, and financial documentation.
  • Office of the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Multicultural Affairs (OPVDEMA): Serves as an advocate to replace obstacles with opportunities so that minority and underrepresented students, faculty, and staff find a sense of belonging at IU.
  • Division of Student Affairs: The Division of Student Affairs works behind the scenes to keep you safe, healthy, and prepared for whatever comes next. Whether you need a tissue, a scholarship, or a lawyer, we’re here for you every time.

OFF CAMPUS

  • Indiana Legal Services, Inc. (ILS): Not-for-profit law firm providing legal services to eligible low-income people. Including domestic violence, housing, consumer law, access to health care, LGBTQ services, and access to government benefits. ILS does not handle criminal matters.
